Heres comes a shock

I'm not backing away from my extreme distaste for this season, but I saw a sight yesterday that made me enjoy it. On a stretch of road between Columbiana and Lisbon, the fallen snow was hanging onto each and every tree branch and limb and had created this beautiful scene. It was so pretty. Don't tar and feather me, but in that moment I was in love with winter.

Also, it seems I left my friend Dave out of my People... post, so I wanted to share a special moment we shared last night. We got to sit across from each other at dinner and it was great. I think there were other people there but all I could do was enjoy that Dave was with me. Ahhhh the memories.

That's right Sam, walk quietly toward the light. Winter will welcome you with open arms. She is not a grudge holder;-)

Sam,
As I sat across from you and gently emraced your hands, there was a moment for me as well when it seemed we were the only two in the world...

Ok that even felt creepy to write. Thanks for the shout out.

Blessings,
Dave

Winter can be so beautiful, Sam! EMBRACE IT!!!! Or shut up and move to Miami!!!!!!!! (heh heh, just kidding.) I find there can be such serenity in a beautifully peacefully quiet gorgeous slice of winter scenery, a serenity not found in any other season. Not that Spring, Summer or Fall can't be peacefully serene, just that winter has that magic like no other season does!

SO EMBRACE IT!!!!!

(Because if you don't now, Al Gore's said you won't be able to much longer!)

Very true, Chris. I might as well enjoy it while I still can. Or maybe I just like your first idea. I swear I hear Florida calling my name in the winter wind.

I love Winter. So, it can be a pain in the ass at times, but such beauty! Personally, I think Summer is the most over rated season there is!

As I sat next to you at dinner I couldn't help but notice the light in your eyes as you beheld Dave sitting across from you. Or maybe it was the swordfish that was on your plate ready to be eaten. I'm not sure. It was nice to have the Scotts join us at one of our fav restaurants for sure.
And yes I LOVE all of the snow that we have right now. It is beautiful!!!

I was beginning to wonder if you and disagreed on anything, Smith. Turns out we do. And it saddens me to hear your overrated opinion of my favorite season. ;-)

I used to like winter a little - donuts with the pickup in the empty church parking lot and all, but now that I live life in a wheelchair, I absolutely, positively, unequivelently despise winter, especially snow - ANY snow! One inch may as well be a foot or two when you are relying on less than 2 inches of total tire contact - or shall I call it lack of contact. It's kinda like sitting on two ice cubes and trying to steer. Sure it's pretty, but it is also cold and slippery, cold and dangerous, cold and so bright when the sun hits it it gives you a headache, and did I mention that it is cold? Give me a nice warm summer day ANY day! Throw in a shop full of woodworking tools and some nice, kiln dried cherry or oak and it becomes a practically perfect day.
And it also helps to block out the memories of the cold, scary snow.

You're right Sam! It was actually getting a little scary how often we found ourselves in agreement. ;>)

But I remain firm in my preference for Winter over Summer, but only in the sense that it is the lesser of two evils. Autumn and Spring are my two favorites. Best pipe smoking weather, you know.

On that I will not disagree. Autumn and Spring do make for fine pipe weather. And, if I were to be honest after writing a post like this, I do enjoy a good pipe in a rocking chair as I sit in front of my fireplace. That's something I could never have the opportunity to enjoy in the heat of summer.

Thank you Smith, you've now sufficiently made me crave a nice English in a Savinelli or maybe some Blue Diamond in a Peterson. I think I'm going to now leave work and partake in that pleasure. Good evening, all.
